Taiwan has an abundance of natural resources. In fact, sixty percent of Taiwan is forested, and there are more than 18 National Forest Recreation Areas. Unfortunately, there has been little consideration for handicapped people at these areas. These people want to do the same things as other people do, but they are not available to do so . Special facilities need to be in located for handicapped people. Also, more and more elders are visiting these areas, and just like for the handicapped people, special consideration needs to be undertaken to ensure these people can enjoy their leisure time there as much as possible.
This study looks at three different items, the first being the accessible environment at Sitou nature education area, the second are the different attributes of tourists’ recognition, approval and satisfaction on accessible environment and the third are the needs for the accessible environment of handicapped people at tourist areas. The study methods of this research consist of structural questionnaire and depth interview. The structural questionnaire use on analysis of tourists’ recognition, approval and satisfaction on accessible environment. The depth interview intent to understand the opinions of accessible environment of handicapped people and related administration.
The results indicated that the improvement accessible environment facilities of toilets, steepness of walkways, garden houses, chairs and tables. The administration agree to improve the accessible environment in Sitou nature education area. But the officer said that it is very important considerations in Funding. Besides, we found that upgrade the quality of assessable environment is more important than before.
