No matter production cost for pig feeding increases or decreases, the retail prices in pork markets are relatively stable, particularly stably high in supermarkets. Therefore, in logic, if the pig feeding firms in Taipei County can change their selling channel from traditional markets to supermarkets, their profit should be increased by this change. Under this idea, this study selects the traditional market, MATSUSEI and 101 supermarket as the possible selling channels for the pig feeding industry in Taipei County, We first investigate the retail prices and requirements in these three different channels, then establish the feeding model to fit the pork quality which we got from formal investigation, and evaluate the total value added from selling to these three different channels. This study adopts marketing investigation method and aimed at 325 firms of pig feeding as the investigation object. We classify these 325 firms into 3 group as follows: Group A (over 500 pigs feeding), Group B (between 100~499 pigs feeding) and Group C (below 99 pigs feeding). We select 15 % of firm number from each group by random sampling, and finally get 33 samples. Our study shows that changing selling channel from traditional market to MATSUSEI and 101 supermarkets needs quality upgrading, the feeding cost for fitting MATSUSEI and 101 supermarkets’ quality requirements increased 7.36% and 11.6% respectively, but the value added will increase 286% and 493% respectively (which should deduct the operating cost for dealer and channel). Meanwhile, the pig production cost of Group C is lowest, the one of Group B is middle, and Group A’s production cost is highest.
