Six female internship supervisors participated in the study. Through the analysis of interview data, the results are as follows: 1. Supervisors’ perception of supervisees’ factors that affect counseling supervision include supervisees’ personal psychological model and condition, general ability, professional counseling ability, professional attitude, understanding and expectation to supervision and the experiences of being supervised. 2. Supervisors’ perception of supervisees’ factors that affect supervisory process include supervisees’ behaviors and reaction, supervisors’ behaviors and reaction, supervisors’ intervention, supervisory interaction and the advancement of supervision. 3. Supervisors’ perception of supervisees’ factors that influence supervisory effect include supervisees’ professional progress, supervisors’ efficacy, supervisory relationship, professional production of discussion, and effectiveness of counseling. 4. Supervisors perceive that there is interplay among supervisees’ factors. Psychological trait and professional attitude affect professional counseling ability, and professional counseling ability affect supervisees’ expectation to supervisory and professional attitude. 5. Supervisors perceive that supervisee’s factors make changes on different supervisory stages. As supervisees gain supervised experience, they are more proficient in counseling ability and more familiar with supervision. Supervisees’ professional attitude and personal psychological condition change with the period of internship. Based on the results, suggestions are made for counseling education, supervisors, supervisees and future research. Abstract
The purpose of the study is to understand supervisors’ perception of the supervisees’ factors that affect counseling supervision, and how they affect the process and effect of counseling supervision.
