A single-subject experimental design of multiple probes across subjects was used in this study. The independent variable was pivotal response training. The dependent variables of this study were the increased social skills. Questionnaires and interviews of the parent and teachers were used to collect the data for social validity. After training both children with autism maintained prolonged interactions with teachers, initiated play and conversation. Besides, these effects showed generality. Further, parents and teachers reported positive changes in social skills. Thus, the treatment outcome showed social validity.
