Summary: | 碩士 === 國立彰化師範大學 === 資賦優異研究所 === 97 === The main purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between personality and counseling needs of gifted junior high school students.
The participants included gifted junior high school students and their teachers. Questionnaires such as “ Gifted Personality and Counseling Needs Scales ” were used for data collection.The analysis methods applied were Descriptive Statistics, Two-way MANOVA and Canonical Correlation. Results of this study were as follows:
1. Main personality factors of gifted students were extraversion and agreeableness. Counseling needs for gifted students were career planning and leisure activity.
2. Gifted students with different placement and gender had significant different personalities. There was a significant difference in peer relationship for gifted students of different gender. There was a significant difference in family relationship for gifted students of different grade.
3. Counseling needs for gifted students that teachers suggested were family relationship. No significant difference was found in the counseling needs of teachers with different teaching type and gender.
4. There was a difference of opinion between teachers and gifted students in the order of importance of counseling needs.
5. The result of Canonical Correlation Analysis indicated personality and counseling needs of gifted students was significant related.
Based on the result of this study, suggestions for future education and research were provided.
