The main purposes of this study were to investigate students’ English learning motivation and satisfaction of vocational continuation industrial high school in Changhua County and to examine their relationship with different background variables. In order to distinguish the differences between English learning motivation and satisfaction, the research instrumentation was composed of three questionnaires, including: personal information, learning motivation, and learning satisfaction.
The population was vocational continuation industrial high schools’ students. A total of 1,200 students from vocational continuation industrial high school in Changhua were investigated. The usable returned questionnaires were 1,017 and the usable returned rate was 85%. The statistical techniques to analyze the data included descriptive statistics, means, standard deviation, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson’s product-moment correlation, and Scheffé comparison.
The major findings of this study were as follows:
1. Learning motivation of the vocational continuation industrial high school students have the highest scores in “ external expections”and on learning satisfaction, in “the teacher’s instruction ”.
2. There were significant differences among several items of learning motivation and satisfaction of vocational continuation industrial high school students toward English subject based on different background variables.
3. There was a significant positive correlation between learning motivation and satisfaction of vocational continuation industrial high school students toward English subject.
