It is often difficult to calculate and recover the loss caused to the Owner and contractors. The most efficient way to reduce or prevent accidents in construction sites is to take precautionary and adjustment measures. However, under the current Rapid Transit System, the construction risk-assessment is made based on intuition developed from individual working interfaces. As a result, it becomes crucial to establish a simple and effective risk assessment method applicable to different stages of the construction work. The purpose of this dissertation is to set up a construction risk assessment module for the high-risk Rapid Transit System construction items. And the purpose to set up such module is to enable risk assessment management under different construction risk factors. The assessment items for impact factors use the Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP) as a main source of weighing judgment to determine the Risk Breakdown Structure (RBS) of Rapid Transit System construction. In addition, the internationally accepted and nationally applicable Risk Evaluation Criteria are being studied and revised with the Borda’s Function to establish the complete structure of the risk assessment structure. A case study on the Tunnel Boring Machine is used here to exemplify the discussion of reference on Rapid Transit System and collection of practical ideas from real executors of Rapid Transit System construction, in order to reach conclusion for the rapid transit system construction risk assessment module.
