The reason is that as the Wafer Foundrys continue to grow bigger and bigger, their focus shifted to serving larger volume customers rather than emerging customers. This Fabless ASIC model then has been a succeeding force to incubate small Fabless companies. This study is trying to understand the competitiveness of Fabless ASIC houses, not from within, but from their customers’ and partners’ angles, hoping to identify their future paths to success.
