Summary:碩士 === 國立暨南國際大學 === 課程教學與科技研究所 === 98 === This research aims to explore the technological and educational views of N. Postman and their implications in education. Postman’s theory is derived from observations of social phenomenon in contemporary American, accepting the scientific and technological thoughts of Munford, Ellul, Innis and McLuhan, etc., then forming the media ecology. The view of media ecology is major from a historical perspective to explore the development of technology and media and to analyze its impact on human society and culture. Postman focuses on the negative results of the impact in society, culture and education by technology and media; therefore he advocates the school education should be reform then as a means to balance the cultural trends. Through the interpretations of Postman’s views on technology and education, this research consider the implications in three areas: the nature and content of school education, children's education, and current technology and media education courses.
