Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 電腦與通信工程研究所 === 97 === The explosive growth of Internet traffic generated by the ever-increasing innovated multimedia applications in recent years has prompted the development of high-speed transmission systems. IEEE 802.16e is designed to enable the delivery of last mile wireless broadband access as an alternative to cable and digital subscriber line (DSL) technologies. Like most mobile devices in all wireless networks, Mobile Subscriber Stations (MSSs) in an IEEE 802.16e network are generally battery powered. To conserve the limited amount of energy on a MSS and prolong its operation lifetime before being recharged, the development of an intelligent power management strategy has become an important research issue in IEEE 802.16e networks. As a result, the thesis investigates the performance of an integrated power-saving scheduling scheme by developing a mathematical model to evaluate its power-saving efficiency. The results from the analytical model are compared with those from a series of computer simulations. It has shown that the results obtained from simulation and analyses are found in a good agreement.
