Immigrants face cultural differences and conflicts, language barriers, economic and societal changes, which may cause interpersonal, value and attitude changes. These changes can have negative effects on mental health. The purpose of this study was: 1) to evaluate the effects of support group on the mental health in foreign spouses in Southern Taiwan, and 2) to understand the related factors to mental health of foreign spouses. DESIGN: Quasi-experimental study design was used and purposive sampling was used to collect data in this study. METHODS: Fifty -one foreign spouses were invited to participate from southern Taiwan. Support group will be arranged for 90 minutes. There were 8 sections. The mental health was measure by Chinese Health Questionnaire (CHQ-12) before, immediately after, and after one month of Support group to execute. All of the data will be analyzed by the statistics in Friedman Test, Mann-Whitney U test and Chi-square test. RESULTS: The results of this study showed that our Support group has effect in improving mental health, but no significant (p>.05) between two group. Experimental group participants had better of mental health than control group. CONCLUSION & SUGGESTIONS: This study will provide health professions as to understand the effects of support group on the mental health in female foreign spouses in Southern Taiwan.
