Summary: | 碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 都市計劃學系碩博士班 === 97 === Since the 8th century when the urban lighting system was founded in Paris, France, cities at night became crowded and mobile. Therefore, urbanization has great bonds with developing lighting systems. Famous cities around the world display more attractive views during the night than the day. Settings of the lighting system indeed promote the night views, and demonstrate deep context of urban cultures and unique townscapes. Those are the primary elements for urban marketing. Besides security and appeal, the lighting system is an essential approach to reflect and strengthen urban structures based on landuse patterns.
In terms of human social behaviors, lighting provides places intimacy and safety, attracts people with hospitality, and conducts orchestrating movements. The night lighting system of cities should also includes these three perspectives to urban morphology composed of landuse. Plans of night lighting system can strengthen landuse activities and initiate urban development.
The current overall lighting plans and designs in Taiwan mainly focus on circulation and safety due to the concerns of low cost and mass production, leading to the same lighting patterns. As a result, the lighting systems fail to lead the directions, and to reflect the structures of functions and images. The problems originated from the lack of comprehensive lighting design causes homogeneous night views, which disguise the density and characteristics of landuse. Over-lighting and lighting-disorders destroy the harmony of light and waste energy. Consequently, the night views of cities in Taiwan become vulgar and common.
Through the revises of related theories and case studies, the research concludes relations between urban lighting system and space structures. Moreover, it probes concepts of lighting systems, visual surroundings and practical techniques to analyze current defects and planning tendencies. In addition, empirical operations of planning night lighting system are utilized to carry out main notions, which helps to improve planning procedures and give suggestions for future development.
