Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 工業與資訊管理學系碩博士班 === 97 === If enterprises were to survive through competitions and to obtain sustainable growth, they would have to equip themselves with more competitive advantages. Among the competitive advantages, innovative capability is an important one. Besides, application of information technology is also a tool to assist enterprises in performing strategies as well as increasing their core competitiveness. Although innovative capability and new technologies are critically important for the growth of enterprises, not all kind of new technology and innovation can advance business performance of enterprises. Therefore, the relationship among information technology, innovation and business performance is worth to explore. Service industry has been invested more heavily by investors around the world, signifying that high value-added service industry has gradually becoming the dominant industry in the world. Besides, how domestic service industry excels internationally is definitely a topic worth discussing as more investors begin to invest in Asia. Furthermore, information technology, innovation and business performance have been neglected in existing literature. Therefore, this research would construct a framework to explore the relationship among information technology, innovation and business performance of Small and Medium-Sized enterprises (SMEs) in Taiwan with the support of references. Then, questionnaires would be collected and analyzed to understand the relationship among information technology, innovation and business performance. Results of this research show that SMEs have limited budget for investments as their capitals, human resources and other resources are not as sufficient as larger enterprises. Enterprises could actually consider characteristics of enterprises, preferred innovative schema and available resources of themselves to arrange the investment of different type of information technology in priority. Besides, it is found out that innovation is the mediating variable of information technology and business performance. It implies that managers should consider adding innovative concepts and activities into information technology upon investing to ensure that business performance can be improved. Therefore, decision makers should be aware of the development of innovative activities and investment of information technology to develop diversity and more competitive advantages. If both innovative capabilities and information technology can be used effectively, competition strategies could be successfully implemented.
