Therefore, the drain ditch covers made by cast iron become the target of the thefts. In order to reduce rate of stealing, this thesis proposes Fiber Reinforced Plastics (FRP) to replace original material of the cast iron of the drain ditch covers. In this study, different types of the drain ditch covers will be analyzed. The theoretical analysis procedure is divided into three parts. The first part is to use the 3D graphic software Pro/Engineer to build the drain ditch cover model and its related size. The second part is to base on the designed model and transfer the model to the finite element program “ANSYS” and build the model element mesh. After that, by setting up the boundary and loading conditions, the stress and deformation of the model structure are determined by ANSYS. The third part is to use the “Taguchi Method” to optimize the size of the drain ditch cover model. It is expected to design an optimal drain ditch cover which is safe and economic.
