Summary: | 碩士 === 國立中興大學 === 國際政治研究所 === 97 === The concept of “Soft power” was mentioned initially by Joseph S Nye Jr., dean of the Kennedy school of government at Harvard University. It means the ability to attract, and attraction often leads to acquiescence, not a command to what you want by threatening someone with force or economic sanctions. In other words, soft power is the ability of pursuing international legitimacy for state. In the 21st century, with its increasing comprehensive national power, the acknowledged power, China, is raising its international status. But China’s rising which intrigues political negative effect is the public opinion of “China threat”. Therefore, feeling with negative effect contributing to international pressure, China uses soft power to promote self image. First, this thesis explains the definition of soft power, and considers that attraction of soft power is one of process of confidence relationship movement. Second, according to special experience from development of China national power, this thesis also provides the vision of the soft power with China style. At last, it examines the motive of China when participating in the world by changing image. In terms of this thesis research, the demand of soft power for the state is a political manipulation, which is to solve adapting problem when the state faces condition of reciprocal cooperation. Not only does China restrains the discussion of China threat, but also exerts the concept of peace cooperation to cover the fact of power expansion. In short, China needs friendly supports from global market, and those supports would be determined on accountability of China and understanding to China from international society.
