Summary: | 碩士 === 國立中興大學 === 化學系所 === 97 === We wish to report protocols whereby TiCl4-Mg-promoted oxidative addition of CHBr3 can be directed to form an unusual dibromomethyltitanium complex. With access to this system, we explored the best conditions for the direct coupling of this dibromomethyltitanium complex with ketones and aldehydes. This TiCl4-Mg-promoted dibromomethyl-transfer of CHBr3 to a variety of ketones and aldehydes provides an efficient, practical, and general approach for the construction of dibromomethyl alcohols. Not only is this TiCl4-Mg-CHBr3 system highly nucleophilic but it also seems highly selective and might become a practical dibromomethyl-transfer reagent applicable to large-scale synthesis.
