However, the current design of the LED traffic signals has not yet well utilization of the unique features of LED. For example, it is easily to change LED colors and can form pictures with several LEDs. Therefore, the present research attempts to integrate the ergonomic symbolic design guidelines and the LED basic features in order to design and generate the LED traffic signals with higher usability. On the other hand, an experiment was conducted to compare this self-developed new type of LED traffic signals with the traditional ones to verify its efficiency and to modify the original design.
