Many innovations of education reflect the importance on the parents to participate in the school education. This study aims to explore the involvement of parents whose children are studying in Kinmen Jincheng junior high school in their children’s learning experience, and the impact it has upon the academic achievement of the children. Since the closed geography environment of Kinmen, the lack of cultural involvement in some areas may lead to parents having little interest in taking part in their children’s learning progress, which usually brings about negative influences upon their children’s ability to perform well at school. For this reason, the study wants to know whether the parents participating in their children’s learning activity has the influence of children’s achievement or not. This research aims to explore the following: 1.Examine the current situation of Parents Participation in secondary school education in Kinmen Jincheng Junior High School. 2.Investigate the difference in the depth of Parents Participation in junior high school education, among the parents of different backgrounds. 3.Investigate the difference in the standard of academic achievement between junior high school students of different backgrounds. 4.Analyzing the correlation between Parents Participation and academic achievement. 5.Hypothesize the impact of Parents Participation upon academic achievement of junior high school students. This study adapts questionnaire investigation method and targets all senior students of the Kinmen Jincheng Junior High School at the first semester in 2008. Responses to questionnaires were collected and analyzed by statistical methods including the average, standard deviation , t-test, single factor variation, Pearson’s production moment correlation, and the multiple stepwise regressions. The mean and standard deviation of the data were calculated during the analysis. The conclusions that can be drawn from this study are as follows: 1.The current status of Parents Participation can be further improved. 2.The level of education, gender, the structure of family and social status are all factors determining the degree of involvement that the parents are willing to take part in their children’s learning in the secondary school. 3.The variation in family backgrounds and the depth of parental Parents Participation has significant impacts upon a junior-high-school students academic achievement. 4.The positive correlation exists between Parents Participation and academic achievements of junior-high-school students. 5.Upon hypothesizing of academic achievements, the depth of Parents Participation appear to be highly correlated to the accuracy of the predictions made.
