For people with low vision, designs taking their positioning performance into account can surely improve their living quality. Hence, this study conducted two field experiments to understand the influence of luminance contrast and the color of interference light source on mouse positioning by the visual impaired. The research results are expected to bring insights into the designing aimed at visually impaired users. The first experiment investigated the influences of luminance contrast between the target icon and the background, target size, distance between icons, and icon location on mouse positioning by subjects with visual impairment, severe nearsightedness, and normal vision. The luminance contrasts tested were 66%, 80%, and 85%; the icon diameters ranged from 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, to 0.7cm; the distances between targets were 4, 8, and 12 centimeters; and the target icons were presented either in columns or in rows. The results revealed that the duration of mouse steering was significantly influenced by subject group, icon diameter, luminance contrast, and the distance between icons. Nevertheless, the influence of icon arrangement was not obvious, but subject group has correlation with target diameter, luminance contrast, and distance between icons. The second experiment aimed to understand the influence of interference light source, type of cueing signal, and the distance of target icon on the positioning performance of visual impaired, near-sighted, and normal subjects. The colors of light source were red, green, blue, and yellow; the cueing signals were sounds, touches, and none; the distances between the target and the subject were 30, 35, and 40 cm. It was found that shorter response time was associated with green or blue light sources (rather than red and yellow lights), the appearance of cueing signals, and shorter distance from the target. Moreover, correlations were found between subject group and light source color, light source color and type of cueing signal, and distance from the target and type of cueing signal. 作者未提供 黃國珍 2009 學位論文 ; thesis 77 zh-TW |
