Blue-and-White porcelain with patterned symbols communicates messages and shows appreciation of beauty. The decoration was used for practical purposes in ancient times, and is now changed to become an appreciation of beauty, therefore it has lost the original purpose for decorative use only.
The study is about Blue-and-White porcelain with plant patterns and how to apply well in cultural goods. The records aim to compile Blue-and-White porcelain of plant patterns in the Yuan dynasty, Ming dynasty and Qing dynasty of decorative style and pattern character; the relations amongst the pattern, decorative design, cultural goods; analysis of the plant patterns of Blue-and-White porcelain internally and externally. The study finds the message delivery, practical use, beauty appreciation and value that symbol patterns, decorative design and cultural goods carry. In order to have a deeper understanding of symbol patterns, decorative design and cultural goods relations, this study used qualitative analysis and made in-depth interviews, and scholars/experts, designers/artists and sales/companies were interviewed, and then collect all the analysis, compile the information and make suggestions on the applied situation about related cultural goods.
The study aims to show that Blue-and-White porcelain of plant patterns, should control the following referred theorem and to improve the problems occurred whilst designing so that cultural goods can fit into our daily lives and pass on the precious culture and promote the beauty of culture. (1) Make good use of culture resources, and show the character in culture. (2)Understand the meaning of image and feel pulsation of culture. (3)Invert the elements in a suitable time and create a new life for culture. (4)Focus on groups of consumers and make good vibes for goods. (5)Fully develop to value and character for cultural goods. (6)Fully develop value and specialty of cultural goods. (7) Carry out the cultural life positively and promote the level of the culture.
