Summary: | 碩士 === 銘傳大學 === 應用日語學系碩士班 === 97 === The purpose of this study is to explore how the Japanese sentence-ending particles “Ne” and “Yo” are expressed in Chinese. Both of Japanese sentence-ending particles and Chinese modal particles are modality particles at the end of a sentence. However, there are some deficient in the corresponding studies. Some studies indicate that the functions of Japanese sentence-ending particles and Chinese modal particles are similar; nevertheless, the relation of them are still not clearly.
Therefore, this study, targeting the most frequently used sentence-ending particles “Ne” and “Yo”, attempts to find out the corresponding relation with Chinese. The study method is to find out the example sentences from Japanese novels and Chinese translations and classify them according to the types of the sentences and the intonations at the end of the sentences, and then discussing the rationalities of the translations based on prior research literature.
The survey result is that the corresponding relation between sentence-ending particles and modal particles is confirmed. The character of ”啊a” is close to “Ne”. In a declarative sentence, the function of “吧ba” is near to “Ne”; nevertheless, in an imperative sentence, it is similar to ”Yo”. “嘛ma” and “呢ne” are also able to be used as “Yo”. “的de” means “Yo” when it is a declarative sentence only, especially usually co-occur with the explanation modality grammar “no-da”. Besides, in this study , it is also found that there is no corresponding Chinese expression if the sentence-ending particle follows a confirmation and request sentence translated into an interrogative sentence, or an invitational form.
