A Study of Overseas Travel Lifestyles and Motivations of Government Functionaries in Taiwan under Globalization

From” Grand Tour” was popular among the young nobles of U.K in 16th century to 18th century that Thomas Cook led short-distance tourism, it created the times of Mass Travel. Under 200 years, tourism had become a part of our lives. With fast development of technology and transportation, there are great changes in people’s lives. And the environments of travel are also affected by internationalization and globalization, it made public had more desires to travel abroad. Therefore, the ratio of overseas tours had kept rising year and year. In the future, the global tourism still appreciative and the quantity of international traveler will also keep rising. According to travel lifestyles and motivations as the study items, trying to discussed the relation between different lifestyles and motivations. The study targets are the government functionaries in Taiwan, oversea travel as the direction, using the mode of quantification to get information, adopt the questions verified from internal and overseas scholar as my questionnaire survey after revise. There are 247 effective questionnaires and analyze by SPSS statistic system. There are four factors of travel lifestyle ”self-taste”, ” respects kinship”, ”both family and self ”, “fashionable social contact”. Moreover, four factors of travel motivation ”relieves pressure and experience”, “shopping”, “human interaction”, “self-actualization”. According to the findings of this empirical study, the lifestyle of “self-taste” based on “shopping motivation”. The lifestyle of “respects kinship” based on “relieves pressure and experience”. The lifestyle of “both family and self” based on “relieves pressure and experience” and “human interaction”. Lastly, the lifestyle of “fashionable social contact” based on “human interaction”. Besides, the study discovered that the travel motivation is not obvious in “self-actualization”, and compares lifestyle and travel motivation choice with the other government functionaries, the age between 31 to 40 years old are more diversification.
