Summary: | 碩士 === 嶺東科技大學 === 經營管理研究所 === 97 === The purpose of this study is to investigate the connection between the leadership styles of elementary school principals, school organization climate and promotion of school public relations. It will begin by discussing the relations between school principal leadership styles and school organization climate. Then it shall examine the links between school principal leadership styles, school organization climate and school public relations to develop references for improvement of school services.
Initially, literature regarding school principal leadership styles, school organization climate and school public relations is collected, studied and analyzed. Secondly, the framework of study is established, questionnaires are prepared, and pretests are administered. Based on the results, the research instruments for this study – the Questionnaires on Elementary School Principal Leadership Styles, School Organization and Public Relations” are established. The teachers and student parents of public elementary schools in Taichung County are made the study population. Stratified random sampling is applied to select 24 schools, 480 teachers and student parents as study samples for the questionnaires. The questionnaires retrieved are then analyzed through descriptive statistics, Pearson’s product moment correlation as well as regression analysis, before the study results are discussed respectively.
From the literature investigated and the study results obtained the following conclusions are derived:
1. Positive school principal leadership styles have a positive correlation with the openness of school organization climate, while negative leadership styles have a negative correlation with the openness of school organization climate.
2. The correlation between the openness of school organization climate and promotion of school public relations is a positive one.
3. Positive school principal leadership styles have a positive correlation with school public relations promotion, while negative leadership styles have a negative correlation with school public relations promotion.
4. Both positive elementary school principal leadership styles and the openness of school organization climate can help predict the quality of school public relations.
Based on the results of study, there are the following suggestions:
1. A school principal must be able to provide correct leadership in promotion of school public relations.
2. Increased intimacy between the faculty members can effectively improve school public relations.
3. Enhancement of school public relations requires the joint effort of the principal and the teachers.
