The steel industry plays an important role in the economic development of Taiwan. Under continuous industries advancement and leader role of economics, the steel industry relies on its high performance teams that consist of outstanding talents for competitiveness. However, the more clustering of talents is not guarantee for high performance, as the world changes getting faster and faster, the role manager played is becoming more and more important. Therefore, the selection of the manager is an issue to the organization and the human resource manager.
This study used Fuzzy Delphi Method and Analytic Network Process (ANP) to analyze and investigate the case company. The findings are as follows:
1. Constructing the managerial talent assessment indices
It consisted of 3 main indicators and 9 sub–indicators, and used the Fuzzy Delphi Method to discuss the managerial talent assessment indices of the case company.
2. Establishing weight system for the managerial assessment indices
The results of the weight system show the relative importance of the assessment indices by using ANP that considered dependent relate ship between indices corresponding practice. The ANP method can reduce uncertain situation in decision making process and provide the reference for implementing related management activities of managerial talent and selecting managers.
3. Seeking excellence and caring encouragement are the two key important managerial talent indices for middle management in case company.
4. The result of the empirical study is accordant with the managerial talent assessment model
The target of this empirical study is one steel company. Top executives of the company greatly recognize this analytical result of the main assessment indicators and sub–indicators. They think this research model having highly explanative capacity and can take as a reference for the future related managerial activities.
