It can precisely and rapidly distinguish, manage, and track items. RFID technology propels the introduction of ubiquity to information technology. Ubiquity refers to a mobile and ubiquitous environment. Its application in food is the product traceability system which preserves electronic records of a food product during the entire process, from its place of origin to the dining table, thereby providing open and transparent information concerning production and distribution of the product, as well as a traceable and consistent guarantee system. This system can dedicated the food safety and help consumers to have a full understanding of the ingredients, production, and distribution processes of the food, thereby restoring their trust. Due to the recent animal health problems in Taiwan, the outbreak of the foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) among swine and illegal disposal of dead swine have not only caused disturbance and panic among pig farmers, distributors, and consumers but also brought a serious impact on pork export. This study aims to develop an electronic pedigree system for traceability in the pork food chain by adopting the RFID technology as the core technology to create a ubiquitous environment and integrating PHP programming language, MySQL, LabVIEW, and other softwares into ubiquitous pork food chain management. This will allow the electronic pedigree information recorded on RFID tags to fully display information regarding the production, auction, butchering, and sale, so that consumers may obtain complete food information and feel at ease during purchase and consumption of pork food with the record-keeping function from the place of the origin to the dining table.
