It can be seen that many enterprises will rent or buy business aircraft in the very near future. A large scale of business aircraft may fly around in the sky of Taiwan. Unfortunately, the records of aviation safety are not good enough in Taiwan. It apparently will be an important issue about aviation safety after permitting business aircraft to fly in Taiwan. Thereforse, the purpose of this study is to mine the safety factors from the accident records of foreign business aircraft from the mined knowledge, a set of if … then … rules can be obtained. Through these rules we can explore the importance of each attribute which causes different levels of damage in business aircraft. The data used in this study is from the accident records of National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) of U.S.A. We apply rough set theory to generate a set of decision rules. Based on the rules, we can develop some safety improving strategies for business aircraft industry.
