In recent years, we have seen mounting evidence of the usefulness of that the handicapped children can be taught by oral hygiene education, combine the teaching method of the special education, and really have a quite apparent effect in the plan. Therefore, the aim of this article attempts to explore how to use TEACCH(Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication handicapped Children ) into teaching principle, and improves their quality of life in the future. Objectives: With the involvement of questionnaire investigation and plan for education of oral hygiene, apply the TEACCH teaching principle to the plan, in order to understand the effect discussion that preschool autism children''s oral health status. Materials and Methods: The participants for this research were 25 autism preschool children in the “Home for the Disabled, Social Affairs Bureau, Kaohsiung City Government”. The study was investigated by structural questionnaire, and used TEACCH to teach autism children oral hygiene education in principle. All of them received 12 classes of teaching oral hygiene education and tooth brushing techniques. Research instrument consists of questionnaire, oral examination charts. Results and conclusions: With statistical analysis of JMP, the difference between before and after teaching oral hygiene education plan shows sex and disabled degree can not make any change happened. The result has been showing the difference for p<.0001 ; and the results shows that TEACCH is generally well received by autism children. Therefore, TEACCH can be used to improving their quality of life (QOL) and help them to maintain a good oral hygiene condition in the future. SHUN-TE HUANG 黃純德 2009 學位論文 ; thesis 108 zh-TW
