Summary: | 碩士 === 義守大學 === 工業工程與管理學系碩士班 === 97 === One of the two pillars of the Toyota Production System (TPS) is just in time system. This system has been adopted by many of Japanese corporations since the 1973 oil crisis. The main purpose of using the system is to reduce cost and eliminate waste thoroughly. Now, the benefits for corporations whom have adopted JIT system have been proved by a lot of literature.
In order to eliminate all of the waste and reduce cost, the TPS was developed base on two main concepts which are Just-In-Time system and robotic system. Hence, TPS could increase productivity, quality and profit, reduce cost, provide various products to consumers, and keep corporations being competitive.
JIT is a generally term of all techniques which are related to improve product quality and reduce cost by eliminating all waste in production system. Under the logic of Just In Time system, the main focus is to eliminate all the waste in the production system. The definition of waste is meaning those equipments, raw materials, components and staff working hours which could not increase the value of products and service. In terms of cost, waste refers to all incurred costs which could not increase product value such as inventory, preceding operation, discarding and rework. The concepts of eliminating no-valuable activities and reducing inventory, operation, flawed production, waiting and overproduction are the essential parts of JIT manufacturing system.
The main purpose of this research is to identify the true sprit, meanings and requirements of JIT system and to research how the JIT system being used in each industries. The research is also to understand how JIT system being successfully operated through the case study of domestic corporation in Taiwan.
