There are many factors that could affect visual acuity, including the size and color of the stimulant, the brightness level of the object etc. Among color affects our visual most directly and most obviously. However so far there is no thorough study towards how color contrast affects visual acuity. Therefore this research uses two different color semicircle as the objective, by comparing the color contrast of the semicircle and different backgrounds, to understand the changes of human visual acuity. This study exams 10 people for their ability, in 10 kind of colors build mutually match under the color contrast which 45 different objective and the background colors compose and record visual acuity contrast by the irradiation. The visual acuity contrast is produced by Java program and shown on the monitor and by way of the gauging examinees to the different color contrast on the visual acuity contrast. The result then undergoes regression analysis with color contrast, brightness contrast and chrominance contrast. According to the result of the experiment can see that the affect between color contrast, brightness contrast and chrominance contrast. We found the brightness contrast is the most related to visual acuity. Finally we develop the color contrast scale in tern of visual acuity. Hopefully this relationship between visual acuity and color contrast which was derived color contrast scale from this experiment could be used as a reference in the field of chromatology and this result application product choice of design and the color matching in daily life.
