College life is a key path to one’s career. College students will obtain various experiences beginning from entering the academic halls till graduating and leaving for a job. College students choose a life style mixed with studying, social interactions, part-time work, communities, and leisure. The socialization process of a student getting into his/her organization will affect the student’s future development in that school. This research, taking college students from the southern Taiwan as objects, aims to investigate the influences of internal/external locus of control and life styles on the socialization processes. Using a SPSS statistical software package, a survey was conducted and 300 valid questionnaires were collected to perform such statistical methods as the descriptive statistical methods, ANOVA, regressions, and Pearson correlations. The research results showed that demographic variables make no great difference on college students’ internal/external locus of control. Besides, demographic variables make no great difference on college students’ life styles and socialization processes except for the school type. It indicated that students in the public schools spend much time on studying and much more involving into their organizations from those in the private schools. Internal/external locus of control has great influence on college students’ life styles. The higher score one’s internal locus of control is, the higher degree one is getting into with each of life styles in college, especially in college students’ learning, student societies and interpersonal relation. Internal/external locus of control has great influence on college students’ socialization processes. The higher score one’s internal locus of control is, the higher degree one is involving into his/her organization. Moreover, college students’ life styles are correlated with the socialization processes. Finally, research conclusion and suggestions are given for the future research.
