Description
Summary:碩士 === 華梵大學 === 工業設計學系碩士班 === 97 === The art of Calligraphy comprises elements of strokes, structures, arrangements, and styles. Strokes and structures provide shape and substance to the character of words, and the arrangements form the compositions. Literature competences, thoughts, spirits, and souls of the practitioners can be embodied in calligraphy, thereby giving essence to the spatial structure. Viewers are presented with a glimpse into the practitioner’s state of mind, personality, and intensity through the works of calligraphy. Despite the fact that calligraphy is made up by brushstrokes on a piece of paper, the combinations of the calligraphic lines and the arrangements are endless, and warrant immense attention. This thesis consists of six chapters. The first chapter introduces the underlying reasoning, objectives, and scopes of the study. The second chapter presents the literature review. Chinese traditional concept of spatial structure and its application are discussed first, and then supplemented by the western concept of aesthetics. The third chapter presents an analysis on the traditional masterpieces of calligraphy. The fourth and fifth chapters are respectively the researcher’s creations and self-analysis. The sixth chapter concludes the study, and proclaims the researcher’s yearning for self-advancement through the creations. 華梵
