To continue maintaining the core competitiveness, the enterprises enhance the product design and development capabilities, and use the rapid link of information technology application, as a result, a new business model is created, that is research and development in Taiwan, but manufacture in overseas. Therefore, to response to the market at any time, enterprises must design and manufacture more flexibly, in line with the growing ODM requirements, and meet the development wave of corporate globalization.
In the new trend of global logistic model, new products market continues to shorten the life cycle, product components grows complexity and related application technology brings new factors, R & D department must also be with the relocation of manufacturing sector, to work closely with every step. Under the influence of environmental factors, such as the potential threat of substitute products access to markets, whether the enterprises success or not, whether the competitiveness is enhanced or not, whether the product could innovate constantly, we must depend on the business-to-customer needs and rapid response to market trends, and rely on teamwork to quickly introduce products to meet market and customer’s demand. In the model of "research and development of domestic design, overseas production", enterprise has been unable to effectively meet the market demand. Under the operation of global logistics, how to remain competitive, the enterprises must continuously develop new products and new technologies, faster and more cost-effective, also maintain quality.
This study is aimed at 3C industry ODM manufacturers in product development strategy, how to use full-house resources to do the operation of vertical integration so as to shorten the product development time, reduce costs, and to secure more orders for the opportunity to enhance their competitiveness. This study only hopes that the ODM manufacturers could explore the obtained results in product R & D strategy, we look forward to make the maximum effects in the enterprise overall planning.
