碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 翻譯學研究所 === 97 === [Abstract] I was a full-time In-house interpreter in the sales department of a company for two years. During the working period, I participated in interpreting situation for numerous internal conferences and external negotiation. In this thesis, based on my actual experiences, there are two angles to demonstrate the real working descriptions of the interpreter and how the personal character would be reflected by the working environment. We will realize that an In-house interpreter should play an efficient role, rather than the general conference interpreter who has only to translate from one language to the other. The thesis will start from the objective standpoint of real working situation, follow by tidying up all kinds of occasion which I had experienced and interview the managers of this company one by one. Therefore, this thesis will indicate the variety working situation and how the characters should be played as an In-house interpreter in two directions: the observation of working description and the employers’(manager division in the same company) expectation. This thesis also designates the difficulties of this job and tries to search any possible solutions. From this study, I would like to present the In-house interpreter’s working environment and character in order to provide a direction for whom is tending to be an In-house interpreter in the future.
