Summary: | 碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 圖書資訊學系 === 97 === This study executes the questionnaire survey method to probe into the information needs, information seeking behavior, library utilizing situation, and the degree of teaching support for the Senior High School English teachers in Taipei County, Taiwan. Coupled with the interview approach, this study also investigates the current condition of the teaching support for the English teachers from the Senior High School Library.
The findings of this study on the information seeking behavior of the English teachers are: 1. the first priority of the information is the teaching related website resources; 2. the “human networking” is the crucial channel of the English teachers executing information seeking; 3. “convenience” is the key factor while performing information seeking. On the aspect of the utilizing of Library: 1. usually teachers will use school Library; 2. “the convenience of receiving needed information” and “the convenience of Library location” are the key factors of seeking information; 3. seeking the teaching related information is the most frequent activity of the high school teachers, and the hard copy document or archive has been used the most while visiting Library. On the aspect of the Library supports teaching: 1. High School teachers have positive attitude on the effective role of the Library to support the teaching needs; and the Library almost can satisfy the teaching support of the teachers as well; 2. Library offers five types of services to support the English teaching, and perform five levels of role on the English teaching supports; 3. teaching support of the Library attains the cooperation level, but does not become a full function of the “teaching information center” yet.
Finally based upon the research findings, this study provided some recommendations on the reformation of professional library matters and on the information policy and library management aspects to the teaching supports of the Senior High School Library in Taipei County and the rest of High School Library in Taiwan.
