Summary: | 碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 心理學系 === 97 === In the present paper, we attempt to achieve three objectives in response to the rapid increase of job stress research published in Chinese language between 1978 and 2007. First, we analyzed major facets of variables studied in the literature based on Beehr and Newman’s (1978) facet model, and job stress theories employed in the literature. Second, we content analyzed methodological characteristics of the above job stress research based on Cook and Campbell’s (1979) validity model. Finally, we compared the findings to those reported in organizational behavior literature.
Overall, the results showed that most of the studies failed to rely on job stress theories, utilized cross-sectional designs, lacked of construct validity evidence of measures, and overlooked the importance of triangulations. The results suggested that future studies expand the foci on life-stage, organizational adaptive responses, the improvement of research design to avoid or reduce common method biases, investigation of mediating/moderating effects, understanding job stress in the multi-level framework, and the advancement of analytic strategies.
