The zoom collimator designed for infrared seeker test uses United States patent US6091551 for the initial structure and reduces the amount of original lens from eleven to seven which consists of four groups called front fixed group, zoom group, compensation group, and rear fixed group, whose power are positive, negative, negative, and positive. The optical performance of the system over the entire 2.7: 1 zoom ratio has the effective focal length 49.2 mm at the wide angle mode, the effective focal length 72.3 mm at the intermediate mode, and the effective focal length 128 mm at the telephoto mode. The maximum image size is 8.16 mm, the relative illumination is over 90%, the distortion is less 5%, and MTF at 30 lp/mm is greater than 0.3. The lens group, while designing, has introduced focusing and image quality correction factor, which ensures that the collimator system is in the best situation.
