Purposive sampling was used in this study; 646 copies of a questionnaire were sent out, and 591 valid copies were returned, making the return rate 91.5%. The data gathered from the questionnaire was then analyzed through descriptive statistics, independent T-test, one-way ANOVA, and regression analysis. The findings are as follows: 1. In terms of inter-personal relationship, grades five and six girls tend to do better than the boys. Difference in family structure has no significant effect on inter-personal relationship. 2. There is a positive relationship between the academic achievement and inter-personal relationship of grades five and six students. The better the academic achievement, the better the student is at inter-personal relationship. 3. There is a negative relationship between video game involvement and inter-personal relationship. The more video games the student plays, the worse the student is at inter-personal relationship. 4. Overall, academic achievement has a more significant impact than video game involvement does on student’s inter-personal relationship. Grades five and six students with higher academic achievement tend to have better inter-personal relationship. Based on the results of the analysis, several suggestions were made to the Bureau of Education and parents. Inter-personal relationship can be added into the school curriculum, and lively, interesting teaching activities and evaluation methods shall be adapted to boost students’ academic achievement. More and better after-school programs shall be provided to students who are behind in their studies. Parents shall pay more attention to the video games played by their offspring, regulate the amount of time spent on playing video games, and encourage them to participate more in other leisure activities.
