In the past few years, photochromic dyes have been utilized in different substrates to form new materials, which could be applied for the new high technology products, such as photochromic sunglasses, photochromic fiber, color filter, or ultraviolet indicator.
The major purpose of this study is to synthesize of the chromenes 1 containing hydroxyl group. This kind of chromenes with different functional group has two visible light absorbing after irradiation by ultraviolet light. In addition, the special characteristics of different derivatives are discussed in details.
