The purpose of this is to establish a web-based and knowledge-based system to integrate the evaluation and design concept of the 3C mold industry. Through systematized procedures, mold quotation steps are standardized, procedurized, and customized. Although limited time for quotation or highly changeable molds may be encountered, through this module, the aim of fast and reasonable quotation can still be achieved. In the form of a webpage, the mold quotation system allows users to collocate the component database from the system, through the products that have already accomplished concept design, to select a suitable die holder, type and model etc, thus designating the material, size, quantity and type of components needed. Then, the costs of mold materials are calculated. Through the processing method that adjusts according to the measurement and different parts of product features, processing time and mold processing costs are calculated respectively. After that, the two types of costs can be added with other evaluations needed by clients, summing up to the total evaluated cost of mold. Furthermore, the same evaluation method is used to develop a web-based hot runner mold quotation navigating system with knowledge management. In the form of a webpage, the hot runner quotation system allows users to estimate the manifold plate, spacer plate, and air cylinder plate through designated gates position and related measurement. Then, the component database from the system is collocated, designating the measurement, quantity and type of component that is needed for collocation, thus calculating the hot runner material cost. After that, through manifold plate gate form, related measurement designation and processing methods of different templates, the processing time and hot runner processing cost are calculated respectively. Moreover, the two types of costs can be added with other evaluations needed by clients, which is then summed up to the total evaluated cost of hot runner mold.
