With the progress of technology, TV and films become more and more popular, however, people's enthusiasm for the shadow show have been reducing year by year. Under upsurge of cultural industry, every country is making an effort to promote its own culture. At the moment when the shadow show is withering, how to keep it and make it popular again is an important issue that we must pay attention to. One of characteristics of the Grade 1~9 Curriculum Guidelines which Ministry of Education issues, focuses on student’s daily life experience and has it incorporate in the learning environment. With this basis, course plan should regard life as the core center and advocate the idea of multicultural values. According to the new Arts and Humanities course plan with performing art area included by Ministry of Education, it’s obvious that the government has already put more emphases on Taiwanese traditional culture and humanities accomplishment at the stage of the primary school. On the other hand, through the scholar's research for many years, drama has already been recognized as a helpful way to children studies, and the major benefit is to let children obtain knowledge and experience of life from it. Shadow show belongs to one kind of the drama. With support from Ministry of Education, I believe that if we can promote it with the idea of drama in education, there must be a positive influence to the culture of shadow show and children education. This paper reference of shadow show concludes a principle of paper shadow show design. Working together with a primary school teacher, Mr. Mai, I tried to design a set of paper shadow show and than practiced it on class to test if it’s a suitable learning material for primary school learners.
