It has transformed into different geomantic studies in several thousand years’ cultural development. For Chinese, geomantic omen is an everlasting lesson more complicated than the selection of residence. The popularity of the geomantic omen results from religion, legend, mythology, augury, metaphysics, shamanism, and superstition. The human beings have started to choose their residence according to the environment. The accumulation of environmental experiences and the transformation of cultural thoughts form the enormous and complicated geomantic system. The principal discussion of the essay is about the environmental change around Kaohsiung Banping Mountain reflected by the temporal transformation of the community locations surrounding Banping Mountain. Because of the specific geology, the geomantic records describe Banping Mountain as a dangerous mountain implying ill omens. Its top is surrounded by Houjing River and its foot is besides Lianchih Pond, Turtle Mountain, and Snake Mountain. Its surrounding communities are Youchang, Houjing, Zuoying, Nanzih, Dashe, Renwu, and Niaosong. There are three divided periods in the essay: the end of the Qing reign and the early period of the Japanese reign (1661-1895), Japanese colonial period (1895-1945), and the KMT reign till modern times (1945-2008). The essay explores, when the location and direction of community buildings in each period are changed, or when the landform of Banping Mountain is changed, whether the geomantic concepts are influenced. Or there are other reasons for the changed location of buildings. The contents of the study contains: the first chapter is the purpose of the study and documentary review. The second chapter: the formation of Banping Mountain and the development of its surrounding communities. The third chapter: the geomantic analysis around Banping Mountain, including the common principles of geomantic residence selection and the geomantic analysis for the environment of Banping Mountain. The fourth chapter: the geomantic analysis of surrounding communities. The fifth chapter: conclusion. Horigome Kenji 堀込憲二 2009 學位論文 ; thesis 323 zh-TW |
