Description
Summary:碩士 === 正修科技大學 === 機電工程研究所 === 97 === Nylon 66 is also know as mechanical plastics, it has been use widely in fasteners, gaskets, electronic switches, chassis equipment, textile, automotive gears, liners, bearings and pulleys etc. It is tough, hard to break and has high impact strength after absorbs water, but its dimensions also can be changed easily. Therefore, to study the hygrothermal effects on the mechanical properties of Nylon 66 becomes important. The purpose of this research aimed to evaluate the hygrothermal effects on the mechanical properties of Nylon 66, the orthogonal arrays of Taguchi methodology is used to analysis the hygrothermal effects on the dimensions, weight, impact strength, tensile strength, elongation and hardness. The results revealed that Nylon 66 will be accelerated the water absorption at a high temperature with the same humidity. Nylon 66 has water absorption rate up to 4.64%, 1.56% dimensional change, 82.82 impact strength, tensile strength of 3 , 18.16% elongation and 56.6 hardness when it was in the 70 ℃, 95%RH environment after 240 hours duration. According to the Taguchi methodology analysis, Nylon 66 with high water absorption should result the deterioration of dimensional stability, the decrease of the tensile strength and hardness, but the impact strength increased significantly as high as 714.74 when Nylon 66 after 288 hours hygrothermal affected.
