Summary: | 碩士 === 嘉南藥理科技大學 === 醫療資訊管理研究所 === 97 === Cervical screening has been proven to significantly reduce mortality from cervical cancers, but false negative cases seem too hard to curtail despite the numerous quality assurance strategies employed by different cytology laboratories. At present, false negative rate stood at 4 to 10%. In the process of seeking quality improvement in gynecologic cytology (the Pap smear interpretation), good working relationships between cytology staffs and laboratory management could play important roles. The assessment of quality can be measured through structural organization, standardization of procedures and results. The purpose of this research will focus on the relationships of diagnostic accuracies in gynecologic cytology, work values and job satisfaction of the cytotechnologists.
Based on the 2008 data released by the Taiwan’s Society of Clinical Cytology, there are 114 cytology laboratories nationwide with a total of 404 cytotechnologists. Questionnaires were mailed to individual cytology laboratories and distributed to each cytotechnologists with the help of their respective laboratory directors. 91 laboratories responded and 285 answered questionnaires were received, with 278 copies being fully valid. The effective response rate was 68.8%.
Using SPSS 12.0 software for statistical analysis, several important results were obtained:
1.The individuality of each cytotechnologist shows significant difference in his or her perception on work values, job satisfaction, quality of individual’s cytologic interpretation, categories or levels of the laboratory he or she is working in and the overall quality of his/her departmental cytologic interpretation.
2.Each cytotechnologist’s perception on his/her work values and job satisfaction is significantly related with the quality of individual’s cytologic interpretation as well as the overall quality of departmental’s cytologic interpretation.
3.The quality of individual’s cytologic interpretation and the overall quality of the departmental’s cytologic interpretation are significantly interrelated.
4.Each cytotechnologist’s perception on his/her work values and job satisfaction is significantly affects the quality of individual’s cytologic interpretation as well as the overall quality of departmental’s cytologic interpretation.
5.The types of laboratory management in cytology department significantly affect the quality of individual’s cytologic interpretation and the overall quality of department’s cytologic interpretation.
