Summary: | 碩士 === 中華大學 === 土木與工程資訊學系(所) === 97 === Horticulture is the rising star of Taiwan’s recent agricultural development. It holds the most growths and export potential amongst Taiwan’s agricultural industry. With the change of times, small to mid-size nurseries are now faced with inefficient business operations, and intense market competitions. In order to overcome these challenges, the businesses will need to improve operation efficiencies and develop strategic business plans.
Through the use of surveys, this research aims to understand the type services that are now demanded by the customers. Strength-Weakness-Operation-Threat (SWOT) analysis and Theory of Constraints (TOC) are used to evaluate the results and develop strategies to mitigate challenges in the re-engineering of business processes. As a result of the surveys and analysis, we have arrived at the following conclusions and suggestions:
1. Although doing businesses via the Internet is now the new trend, businesses should not be rushed into opening an online store. Instead, they should first establish an online market through a well-known online shopping network or create a blog page with which their product information and pictures are posted. Once an online customer-base has been established and demand becomes stable, businesses can then re-evaluate the need for an official online store.
2. We can see from cross-analysis that businesses should take the overall industry environment into consideration and adjust their short-term and long-term goals accordingly.
3. Customers now prefer fast and easy online business transactions as well as delivery services, therefore the businesses need to look into the possibilities of offering those services. It is imperative that nursery businesses improve in the areas of online shopping.
4. Landscaping services are considered to be obligatory follow-up services that the customers highly value. Businesses should focus on strengthening and differentiating this area of service from competitors.
