Description
Summary:碩士 === 長庚大學 === 企業管理研究所 === 97 === In the health care industry, the conscientiousness and the neuroticism of nurses’ traits are important. Previous studies about the effects of the conscientiousness and the neuroticism on job performance investigated their main effects on job performance, but fewer studies examined their interactive effects. The purpose of this study investigates the interactive effects of the conscientiousness and the neuroticism on health service performance that can help health care managers improve service performance for nurses’ selection and employment. This study used cross-sectional design and 313 pairs of nurses and patients were collected. Using median of the neuroticism to divide nurses’sample into low and high neuroticism examined their own effects of the conscientiousness on patient safety and patient perceived care quality. Results of regression analysis indicated that nurses with high conscientiousness and low neuroticism had positive effect on patient safety. Moreover, nurses with high conscientiousness and high neuroticism had negative effect on patient perceived care quality. Implications of this study for health care management and future research were discussed.
