The Bunun culture has its colorful aspects, which are extensively expressed through their traditional music, dance, sculpture, mythology, legends, taboos and literary works. This study is the analysis of Horce-luman Fa-fa’s literary works. They are mainly composed of the following topics: man and nature, man and the supernatural, man and himself, man and society. From the perspective of ethics and moral character education, different status and role-plays of tribal people are further discussed. Bunun Tribe has its unique traditional mythology, legendary stories, and taboos, which were narrated orally by the tribal elders and passed generation by generation. They are treasure cultural inheritance from their ancestors, and are often used as tribal people’s moral rules, teaching, and guidance of life. Horce-luman Fa-fa’s stories concerned much of tribal people’s struggles and contradictions, when facing the impacts of modern life and assimilation of Han People culture. The moral teachings are common seen in the Fa-fa’s stories, including some important educational issues: life education, gratitude education, ecological education, family education and tribal education, which are needed and could be well used as the best living teaching materials of ethics and moral character education especially in the elementary school.
