Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立中正大學 === 政治學所 === 97 === The needs for Taiwan’s marriageable men to wed ladies from Southeastern Asia or mainland China is dwindling this year, yet the population of female marriage immigrants in Taiwan still exceeds the significant 400,000 level mark. This paper intends to explore what kind of difficulties those new immigrants by wedlock have faced in seeking a family-supporting job in Taiwan, besides their day-to-day life adjustment. Thus, this paper wants to achieve the following goals: 1. to understand those new female immigrants’ considerations in seeking jobs; 2. to reveal the difficulties they faced while locating jobs; 3. to know whether the job-seeking guidance and training provided by concerned authorities and the related policies and rules are helpful or not; 4. to understand whether they are getting our society’s assistance and support and what, if they have. In literature analysis section, this paper shall define “new female immigrants” first, then explore the impeding factors they met while seeking jobs, among them, the human resources cost, family conditions, social constrains and the requirements of labor market, etc. On methodology side, this paper adopts qualitative research method, collecting necessary research data by conducting interviews and focus groups. This paper uses the collected data to conduct thematic analysis by the following themes: 1. unfurling a new life, 2. difficulties to be employed, 3. expectations from jobs—just to have, 4. real feelings—hope and expectations. The research samples are taking randomly from new female immigrants participating the beauty salon courses held by Tainan Training Center, Bureau of Labor and Vocational Training, among them, 12 new female immigrants and 6 employees of public employment service agencies. From the analyzed results, this paper makes the following suggestions: 1. difficulties of employment arisen from nationality differences must be improved; 2. thorough and considerate policies must be made for the benefits of Taiwanese spouses who are of foreign or mainland China origin; 3. The personal security and care of foreign or mainland China spouse of a Taiwanese must be guaranteed while waiting for entry approval; 4. the conditions on working environment and job benefits of a Taiwanese foreign or mainland spouse must be guaranteed; 5. the working rights of a Taiwanese foreign or mainland spouse must be guaranteed.
