Summary: | 碩士 === 國立中正大學 === 成人及繼續教育所 === 97 === The purpose of this study is to explore the experiences and coping methods of abused women in relationships involving domestic violence, in order to understand the experiences of abused women who participate in group learning, as well as their empowerment as part of a group, to serve as a reference for design of abused women group programs. This study utilizes qualitative methods in conducting interviews, and seven abused women belonging to groups were interviewed. Based on data analysis, the following conclusions are reached:
1.In domestic abuse situations, abused women have negative self-identification and learned helplessness.
2. Regardless of whether they remain at or leave the abusive environment, abused women face troubles in their roles as mothers.
3. Abused women are bound by their traditional roles.
4. Coping methods used by abused women in the face of domestic violence are divided into remaining in the abusive relationship and leaving the abusive environment; these are explored separately.
5. After abused women participate in group learning, they develop in the following ways: they gradually leave behind pain and sadness, can have self-perception and reflection, can have improved problem-solving abilities, can have autonomous learning, can practice positive thinking, and they believe it to be better to change themselves than to change others.
6. Groups for abused women provide four types of empowerment effects: personal, interpersonal, social, and self-realization.
Based on these research conclusions, the following suggestions are proposed:
1. Encourage abused women to participate in group learning, help them to believe in themselves as people with abilities and value.
2. The authorities in charge of arranging groups should provide abused women with opportunities to participate in group learning, train group leaders, and establish team work models as well as a long-term group program with developmental stages for abused women.
3. It is suggested that future academic studies can make further explorations based on transformative learning, feminism, strength perspective , or case life descriptive studies.
