Enterprises are not only managing their internal production and operations, but need to coordinate and cooperate with other enterprises to achieve best production and operational performance that facilitate a need to structurally manage the supply chain. Nowadays company managers have to consider all crucial information pertaining to the production plan, the schedule, the objective and the scope of control not only itself, but also in its upstream suppliers and downstream customers. So far, there are still large amount of traditional production planning methods (e.g., MRP) or scheduling modules which could not acknowledge the full requirements of effective production planning, not mentioning an appropriate fit for current business environment at all. In view of this, this research provides a capacity planning framework that incorporates the concepts of ontology by using the expressing power of Semantic Web, and the simulation capability to experiment various business scenarios that can help expediting the handling of resource allocation and production scheduling planning in the supply chain. The model developed in the research is applied to an air conditioner (AC) supply chain of a company to verify it’s applicability in practice. By combining simulation power and semantic structure analysis, the model can assist the management in decision-making of capacity planning and in improving the efficiency, service level and to reduce cost of the supply chain. 任睄 2008 學位論文 ; thesis 92 en_US
