The new fashion is the joint effort waged by all suppliers for a supply chain management system in the competitive environment. The concept of JIT purchase is now in use by a large number of companies as it does mean profit to the firms including lowered cost, improved quality and upgraded productivity among others and maintaining close relationship with the supplier is key to success in JIT purchasing. Mass production is to lower cost of production and improve efficiency while satisfying demands of individual customers, who ask for a large quantity of diversity and customization.
The research subjects is the top 1,000 Taiwanese manufacturers announced by the Common Wealth Magazine in 2007 through a mailing survey. Empirical data is analyzed by using structural equation modeling with AMOS 5.0 to explore the impacts of supply chain management, JIT purchasing on the degree of mass customization, value to customer, and competitive advantage.
The results of this study that supply chain management has a significant impact on the degree of mass customization and this suggests a well-established supply chain management system could help a corporate in coordinating. The degree of mass customization has a positive impact on value to customer and competitive advantage. Therefore, improving the degree of mass customization does help creating value to customer and make competitive advantage more powerful.
